How to Make Organic Apple Cider Vinegar at Home

Apple cider vinegar or ACV, is a type of vinegar made from cider or apple must and has a pale to medium amber color. Organic apple cider vinegar is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.

Its wide-ranging benefits include everything from curing hiccups to alleviating cold symptoms, and some people have turned to apple cider vinegar to help with health concerns including diabetes, cancer, heart problems, high cholesterol, and weight issues.
Carol Johnston, PhD, directs Arizona State University’s nutrition program. She has been studying apple cider vinegar for more than 10 years and believes its effects on blood sugar are similar to certain medications.
She explains that the vinegar blocks some of the digestion of starch. “It doesn’t block the starch 100%, but it definitely prevents at least some of that starch from being digested and raising your blood sugar,” Johnston says.
Like smoothies, lemonades and few pantry staples, turns out the best apple cider vinegar is homemade!

Homemade organic apple cider vinegar

Ingredients:

  • 3 small apples (core and peel included, no stem)
  • 3 tsp raw sugar (I used muscavado)
  • filtered water to cover

Instructions:

  • Wash and chop your apples into medium sized pieces. Place them in a clean, rinsed and sterilized wide mouth jar.
  • Mix the sugar with 1 cup of water and pour on top of the apples.
  • Add more water if needed to cover the apples.
  • Cover the jar with a paper towel and secure it with a band.
  • Place the jar in a warm, dark place for 2-3 weeks.
  • Strain out the liquid and discard the apple pieces.
  • Return the liquid to the same jar and cover it again (same paper or cheesecloth).
  • Return the jar to the same warm, dark place and leave it do its thing for roughly 4 to 6 weeks, stirring with a plastic or wooden spoon every few days or so.
  • After the first 4 weeks, you can begin to also taste your vinegar and once it reaches an acidity you like, you can actually transfer it to a bottle with a lid and begin using it.

Easy DIY Egg And Olive Oil Hair Mask

I had super, thirsty dry hair and tried many expensive, cheap and in between hair product to fix dry hair. I also used various masks, treatments, even whatever my hairdresser suggested to me. My hair remained thirsty and nothing worked. I had pretty much lost faith in products.

Then one day I just thought why not create a hair mask using eggs and olive oil, two inexpensive kitchen ingredients, which are well known natural moisturizers and high in fat. Moreover, the protein in egg yolk has great ability to strengthen the hair as well. After using egg yolk and olive oil hair mask only for a couple of weeks, my hair turned around from lifeless and dull to silky and shiny and that made me yelled with joy! I am sharing here today this amazing homemade recipe with you.

How To Make Your Own Hair Mask With Egg Yolk And Olive Oil For Dry Hair?

If you have dry hair, I highly recommend that you nourish your hair once a week with this fantastic hair mask for an all-natural way to moisturize and condition dry, brittle strands and keep your hair looking healthy and vibrant, no matter what the season is.

You will need:

(i) Egg yolk: 2

(ii) Olive oil: 2 tablespoons

Method:

(i) Take an egg and separate the egg yolk from egg white. If your hair is long or thick, you will need two egg yolks so as to provide even coverage. Place the egg yolk in a glass bowl. For dry hair, you only need the yolk, not the white. Egg yolk contains fat and protein that will help moisturize and rejuvenate your dry, lifeless hair.

(ii) Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil per one egg yolk in the bowl. Whisk or use a spoon to mix up the yolk and olive oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you feel the mixture is too thick, add a little bit of water to the mixture to make it easier to spread evenly onto your hair.

(iii) Massage the mixture evenly into the dry hair. If your hair ends are extra dry, apply extra mask mixture onto your tips than on your roots. Put your hair in a loose bun, cover with a plastic shower cap, leaving the mixture in your hair for a minimum of one hour to work its magic.

(iv) First rinse off the mixture from your hair using lukewarm water, and then shampoo it with lukewarm water to remove excess oil and egg, leaving your hair shiny and soft with no buildup. Be sure to use cool or lukewarm water (avoid hot water) so that the egg yolk doesn’t cook in your hair. If you feel that the smell is still not gone, shampoo your hair once more.

(v) Let your hair air-dry. When done, run your fingers through your hair and voila – feel the touch of your newly hydrated, softer and healthier hair.

Natural Beauty Tips:

(i) If don’t have olive oil handy, but needs a quick natural conditioner, just whisk a whole egg, including yolk and white. Apply the egg into your a little wet hair from the roots to the tips, leaving it on for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it out with lukewarm or cool water. This simple conditioner works for any hair type.

(ii) If your hair is exceedingly dry, brittle and damaged, you might like to go for a much more effective hair mask beyond a simple egg and olive oil mask. In such a case consider adding in a teaspoon of one of the following ingredients to make your mask even more effective:

(a) Honey

(b) Aloe vera gel

(c) Milk

(d) Fully ripe mashed banana

(iii) If you want to be more adventurous and experimental, try one of the following oils instead of olive oil to make an egg mask:

(a) Jojoba oil: for oily to normal hair

(b) Almond oil: for normal to dry hair

(iii) Coconut oil: for dry hair

Try any variant of the above superb egg hair masks and share your experience with us.

How To Make Your Own Natural Lip Balm

Well you know that cold is the biggest enemy of your lips. Because of that you should do everything you can to prevent their cracking using balms which you can prepare for yourself at home.

Here is how:

Get some Vaseline and put a few teaspoons of a plate, depending on how much amount you want to make and melt it in the microwave oven for 30 seconds.

If the Vaseline is still solid once you pull it out, put it for another 30 seconds so that it melts completely.

Once you get the liquid Vaseline, put some vanilla extract which can be found in every major supermarket or pharmacy.

Apply a maximum of 10 drops and then add a tablespoon of honey in the whole mixture. That will give shine to your lips.

If you don’t like the shine, skip this step, your lip balm will certainly give some gloss, but not so intense.

Stir the mixture for a few minutes and put it in a already discharged pack of lip balm or jar of face cream.

Allow the mixture to be hardened in the refrigerator for an hour and then try your new vanilla lip balm which feels good on your lips!

If you don’t vanilla, you can add any extract you want.

Nothing can look more beautiful than lustrous and gorgeous hair. Smooth and silky hair definitely adds to your personality and immediately makes you the centre of attraction anywhere. All good hairstyles require amazing hair quality and without it nothing can really fall into place. However, not everyone is lucky to have non-problematic hair. Problems like hair fall, dandruff, split ends, etc. can happen to anyone and can adversely affect the health of your hair. Thin hair or visible dandruff can spoil your look and the impression that you might have on someone. Have you also been suffering from all these troubles of late? If so, then it’s time for you to look into the matter before things start getting worse. In this article, we will educate you with a few amazing hair care tips that can bring back the natural shine and gorgeousness of your hair. So, let’s get started!

Maintain a Nutritious Diet

Maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet is extremely important for your hair. Staying dehydrated can be the worst thing that you can do to your hair. Make sure you drink lots of water and keep yourself hydrated. Try to include protein into your diet through lentils and meat. Along with this, you should know the importance of vitamin A in your diet for it helps in promoting hair growth. This is exactly why you should include leafy vegetables, carrots, and cod liver oil in your regular diet regime.

Avoid Using Styling Treatments and Chemical Products

There’s no doubt about the fact that chemicals are detrimental for your hair. You might be totally into highly chemical shampoos or haircare products, but it’s important for you to keep in mind the harmful effects of such products. Excessive or continued usage of harsh chemicals will spoil your hair quality and growth in the long run. Try to find alternate herbal remedies for your hair and embrace its natural shine and beauty. Ideally it is advisable to stay away from chemical based treatments completely or at least keep their usage to bare minimum.

Try Alternate Treatments

You can try using aloe vera gel to add shine and volume to your hair or curd to keep your hair conditioned. They are two of the most effective ways of keeping your hair naturally beautiful.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera is an amazing ingredient to bring life back to your hair and improve the way it looks and feels. All you need to do is, apply a small amount of aloe vera gel in place of your regular hair conditioner. After doing so, just let the aloe vera gel sit on your hair for a few minutes. Post that you can rinse it off with regular water. Try to do this on a regular basis to see visible difference on your hair.

If you are keen on adding volume to your hair, you can use aloe vera gel as hair mask by applying it on your hair and leaving it on for 30 minutes. Rinse it with regular water after half an hour and watch your hair change in terms of shine and lustre with regular usage.

Curd

Curd is also a great ingredient when it comes to having beautiful and radiant hair. Take about 2 tablespoons of curd and mix it with one tablespoon of lemon juice. Apply this mixture to your hair on the roots and along the length, both. Use this as a conditioner after you have shampooed your hair. After keeping it on for a few minutes, wash your hair with lukewarm water. This will add shine, softness and make your hair look silky.

Avoid Combing Wet Hair or Using Hair Dryer

Combing your hair when it is wet is absolutely a big ‘no’. Wet hair is the weakest and combing it after taking a bath can lead to hair breakage. Along with this, you should also to avoid using excessive hair dryer. It is best to let your hair dry naturally as that won’t lead to all these problems.
