Easy DIY Egg And Olive Oil Hair Mask

I had super, thirsty dry hair and tried many expensive, cheap and in between hair product to fix dry hair. I also used various masks, treatments, even whatever my hairdresser suggested to me. My hair remained thirsty and nothing worked. I had pretty much lost faith in products.

Then one day I just thought why not create a hair mask using eggs and olive oil, two inexpensive kitchen ingredients, which are well known natural moisturizers and high in fat. Moreover, the protein in egg yolk has great ability to strengthen the hair as well. After using egg yolk and olive oil hair mask only for a couple of weeks, my hair turned around from lifeless and dull to silky and shiny and that made me yelled with joy! I am sharing here today this amazing homemade recipe with you.

How To Make Your Own Hair Mask With Egg Yolk And Olive Oil For Dry Hair?

If you have dry hair, I highly recommend that you nourish your hair once a week with this fantastic hair mask for an all-natural way to moisturize and condition dry, brittle strands and keep your hair looking healthy and vibrant, no matter what the season is.

You will need:

(i) Egg yolk: 2

(ii) Olive oil: 2 tablespoons

Method:

(i) Take an egg and separate the egg yolk from egg white. If your hair is long or thick, you will need two egg yolks so as to provide even coverage. Place the egg yolk in a glass bowl. For dry hair, you only need the yolk, not the white. Egg yolk contains fat and protein that will help moisturize and rejuvenate your dry, lifeless hair.

(ii) Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil per one egg yolk in the bowl. Whisk or use a spoon to mix up the yolk and olive oil until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you feel the mixture is too thick, add a little bit of water to the mixture to make it easier to spread evenly onto your hair.

(iii) Massage the mixture evenly into the dry hair. If your hair ends are extra dry, apply extra mask mixture onto your tips than on your roots. Put your hair in a loose bun, cover with a plastic shower cap, leaving the mixture in your hair for a minimum of one hour to work its magic.

(iv) First rinse off the mixture from your hair using lukewarm water, and then shampoo it with lukewarm water to remove excess oil and egg, leaving your hair shiny and soft with no buildup. Be sure to use cool or lukewarm water (avoid hot water) so that the egg yolk doesn’t cook in your hair. If you feel that the smell is still not gone, shampoo your hair once more.

(v) Let your hair air-dry. When done, run your fingers through your hair and voila – feel the touch of your newly hydrated, softer and healthier hair.

Natural Beauty Tips:

(i) If don’t have olive oil handy, but needs a quick natural conditioner, just whisk a whole egg, including yolk and white. Apply the egg into your a little wet hair from the roots to the tips, leaving it on for about 10-15 minutes, and then rinse it out with lukewarm or cool water. This simple conditioner works for any hair type.

(ii) If your hair is exceedingly dry, brittle and damaged, you might like to go for a much more effective hair mask beyond a simple egg and olive oil mask. In such a case consider adding in a teaspoon of one of the following ingredients to make your mask even more effective:

(a) Honey

(b) Aloe vera gel

(c) Milk

(d) Fully ripe mashed banana

(iii) If you want to be more adventurous and experimental, try one of the following oils instead of olive oil to make an egg mask:

(a) Jojoba oil: for oily to normal hair

(b) Almond oil: for normal to dry hair

(iii) Coconut oil: for dry hair
