Yes, consuming 3 peaches daily can help in the fight against breast cancer, according to new research published in the Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry.
U.S. scientists to this important discovery came testing laboratory mice.
“First we implemented infected cells from breast cancer under the mice skin, then treated them with extracts of peach. We noticed positive effects after a few weeks, which means that peaches destroyed metastases and started to stop the disease,” said Dr.. Luis Cisneros-Zevallos who carried out the project.
Scientists counted and used doses of mice and applied in humans, after which concluded that consumption of two to three peaches per day would have the same effect in humans.
In Western countries, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women and only in U.S. last year 232,000 women were suffering from breast cancer according to recent data.
“The importance of this finding is significant because it shows how powerful effect in the fight against this deadly disease have natural compounds, in this case phenol compounds in peaches,” explains Dr. Louis.
It is important to eat the whole fruit, not just the juice
What is very important in all this, is that the consumption of peach juice will not give the same effect.
“It is important to eat whole fruit,” adds nutritionist Ian Marbury and advises people to consume as many different fruits and vegetables.
